January was a strong month for startup funding with more than 1.9k funding rounds captured by TechTrack. Here's a breakdown of all things big and small in the world of startups & VC:

There were 1,905 deals last month compared to 2,287 in December, a decrease ⬇ of 17%
Early stage funding continues to dominate with 930 deals announced compared to 1,237 in December, a drop ⬇ of 24%
Expansion stage funding remained steady with 624 deals announced compared to 615 in December, an increase ⬆ of 1.4%
Overall, these statistics are in line with what we typically see in deal activity in January of a new year vs December of the previous year

January was a strong month for M&A deals with more than 1.1k acquisitions captured by TechTrack. Here's a summary of Mergers & Acquisitions activity:

There were 1,071 acquisitions last month, an increase ⬆ of 21% from December
M&A Activity seems to be picking up momentum over the last quarter, with 2,682 acquisitions announced over the last 3 months, an increase ⬆ of 40% compared to the previous period
Overall, that brings the total number of Mergers & Acquisitions over the last 12 months to 7,902, a slight decrease ⬇ compared to the preceding 12 months where there were 9,332 acquisitions
